This is one of the big avispas or wasps that frequent Esperanza's fountain. They don't bother to come into the area of the hotel, just seem interested in getting a drink and moving on. They are very black and very menacing looking though, and about an inch and 1/2 in size.

Elder Alvarado, on the left, is from Costa Rica, and we plan to get together to see some of the presentations I did for the Pres. of Salt Lake Community College about Costa Rica. Elder Larson, his companion, is new to the mission and is from Kaysville.Edwin and Carolina got married in the Bogota Temple the first part of May. He was keeping an album too, so I gave them a bunch of animal stickers for a wedding present. Little David loved them. This is the album I talked about in my letter to everyone, and here is a picture of Alex and Claudia with Alex in an official "JET" shirt!!!!! Very cool! We had a great lesson with them and the missionaries in Bucaramanga Tuesday night. What a nice family they are - their son is 5, I think. We go back to B'manga on the 18th, and they have invited us to their home. We'll be there!!! They are an exceptional couple.
This is the day of the maiden flight of the little birds that you have seen in various stages. Just a few days, and they are out of the nest. He got a little confused, so we had to help him get back to the trees/bushes in the patio.
We invited the missionaries of San Gil/ Socorro over for Chilean hot dogs a couple of Mondays ago. A fun afternoon with them. Our new Elder Huanio, from Peru, replaced Elder Ordones. Elder Moen, Elder Morris, and Elder Baque are the others. Elder Morris and Elder Baque are working in Socorro, and if you look back to our very first blog pictures, you will see that Elder Baque was here when we arrived in San Gil, so it is fun to be serving with him again. He will be finishing his mission here in San Gil, in September.
We had a Dia de la Familia the 23rd of May, a big celebration in Colombia. Our contribution was to hard boil and peel these little tiny eggs...I think they are like a cornish hen egg. Anyway we did 100 of them, then you dip them in a sauce of mayo and ketchup. It is really good, I'm thinking that you could use it for regular hard boilded eggs too. These little eggs show up in everything. Many empanadas have them tucked away in them when you eat them.
Food, followed by a fun night of games, thoughts about the family, and dancing. There must have been 80+ people there.
Elda is just one of my favorite people here, along with her sister Margi (Margi has the talking parrots). They live next to the hotel and she came with Esperanza. She wouldn't dance with Wayne, but we did get her to accept the rose. Isn't she just so cute!!!
The stage was set for a great party day by the earlier baptism of Carlos from Socorro.

We love what we are doing here, many good things going on. On Saturday we have a lesson with one of the young men that works at the club where we play tennis, (hey, it's all in the line of missionary work!). We taught our first classes in Socorro on Tuesday, they were really fun and eager-to-learn students, then to B'manga for Tues. night and Wednesday for the conference, then preparing for our class tomorrow at SENA in San Gil. A few visits thrown in for extra measure.
It is good to be so busy, we will be thinking of the family tomorrow as Chenelle and Jordan are being married in the temple. We missed Amanda and Mike's wedding last summer, and that is just a little hard, but we are proud of the family, love them, and know that families are what we are teaching about and that is so very important. . . the eternal nature of family. We so glad we get to hang out with this bunch of kids!...we are gathering quite a few generations now!
