February Activities

Here are some of our activities for the month, nothing earth-shaking, just day to day interaction with the members.

Getting ready to head for a family home evening. When I wanted to get another taxi, the reply was "Tranquila, Hermana, this is Colombia", and all six hopped in. We arrived at the home and had a fun evening. Afterwards, also visited a sister who had just had surgery

Our kids will remember Dad's drawing. Pres Bonza added his stick figure. It's probably a good thing you can't see it. I called them Rembrandt and Picasso for the night.

Dad and Hermano Avila helping prepare the garden area for my "self-sufficiency" project. Seeds go in this week. Is that some pick or not! I could hardly lift it.

Preparing the night before for our "Cathedral Window" quilting night; sisters helping each other learn; and the purse I hope to finish.

Lucila, and daughter Esmeralda have now finished many more squares. Later on, look for their unique way of arriving at Relief Society. Well, really not so unique for here!

Sister Bonza, Sister Claudia and Sister Barbara, all looked pleased with their finished project.
Barbara made other squares, and we are going to try to create a connection with a local purse designer to see if she is interested in using this pattern. I am waiting for a call from the designer this week. Barbara is also a "modista" or seamstress.

R.S. Pres. Gina and Sister Leidi are equally pleased.

Esperanza finished her square............and still had time to fix hot chocolate for us all!

Lucila and Esmeralda head for home. Doesn't this look fun!?!

Our February baptisms, here I am with Brandon and Carlito. Both are just great kids, and will be very strong priesthood holders. They were both baptized with their moms.

.

We went to Carlito's school today (he's on the right), and had a fun experience. Brandon's sister is being baptized on March 7th, her birthday.

This is Brandon's mom, Ana. She is just as great as her son. It's hard to explain the warmth of these people. It is very special to be a small part of their life.

Sister Uribe and Carlito on the left, Sister Mora's family on the right.

Tanya, in front is anxiously awaiting her baptism on March 7.

It is easy to see Carlito's enthusiastic nature in this foto with his mom, Cecelia. What strong members are coming into the rama.

Elvira is another new member, and her faith is a good example to all. This was Elder Ordones' last week with us in San Gil. Elder Ureta performed the baptism, Pres. Bonza on the right.

One of the things that was fun about this baptism, was it was the first time that Elvira had ever been completly submerged in water, and she was just a little nervous to say the least. What courage and confidence.

Fernando, Rosa's son just came out to support the February 14, baptisms, it was also his 12th birthday! Three new priesthood holders!

Hope you have enjoyed the pictures.

We miss you all, but love the opportunities we are experiencing here. We appreciate the many of you who are including us in your prayers, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with our family and friends too. Love is a powerful force in the world, may we all demonstrate that love to those we are in contact with. Look for the blessings in our lives, they are there!

Love,

Los Hermanos Jenson

What great activities. And I'm so impressed with your picture taking. Kudos. As always, it makes me a little jealous and "mission"-sick.

p.s. I made some almond cookies the other day, and it reminded me of going to get yummy almond cookies with grandma at dan's. Those were SO tasty. Do you remember? Wish I knew how to make them!
